Super Notch 0.3.13 — Phonon 2

Phonon 2 is the default speech engine for new setups. Type and Talk share local English transcription on Apple silicon.

  • Download the model and runtime inside Settings → Type or Talk. Audio stays on your Mac.
  • The model stays warm between takes and unloads when idle. Existing engine selections are preserved.
  • English only; choose Whisper for other languages or translation.
  • Grok usage stays on one line; billing and reset details are available on hover.

Super Notch 0.3.12 — Stacked Cards

A cleaner menu bar icon.

The menu bar now uses a flat stacked-cards outline, rendered white on dark menu bars and adapted by macOS for contrast.

Super Notch 0.3.11 — Precise Hotkeys

HUD push-to-talk requires Fn + Left Control.

  • Left Control alone no longer starts HUD push-to-talk after a missed Fn release or stale function-key flags.
  • The physical chord is checked again before recording begins. The default now uses Left Control specifically.

Super Notch 0.3.10 — Glass

Choose models from the notch and switch to native Mac glass.

  • Click the expanded model chip to search models reported by your selected provider.
  • The minimized notch leaves its right side clear for menu-bar icons. The expanded header no longer shows a session-count badge.
  • Choose Mac glass or Charcoal in Settings → Look. Mac glass uses native blur and respects Reduce Transparency.

Super Notch 0.3.9 — Quiet Sessions

One recent Claude card per workspace instead of a flood of batch runs.

  • Recent transcript-only Claude runs in one workspace collapse to the newest card. A live process takes priority over older saved runs.
  • Independent live processes and separate workspaces remain separate. Older runs are available through Load more history.

Super Notch 0.3.8 — Open Updates

Daily update checks now use our public GitHub releases repository.

  • Find and download the latest signed, notarized release without a GitHub account.
  • Activation remains required. Updates preserve your activation on the same Mac.
  • The website update feed remains available as a fallback.

Version 0.3.7 · September 28, 2026 · Permalink

Super Notch 0.3.7 — Connected

T3 Code sessions and daily update checks.

  • T3 Code threads appear with their titles, models, branches, and live status. Settled and archived threads stay out of the live feed.
  • T3-owned CLI placeholders collapse into real thread cards. Clicking a card opens T3 Code.
  • Super Notch checks GitHub Latest daily, with the website feed as a fallback. An update-ready indicator stays visible until you install the newer version.

Super Notch 0.3.6 — Clear View

One notch, smoother expansion, and accurate Claude usage.

  • Codex helper processes and nested app servers no longer appear as duplicate session cards. Independent sessions stay separate.
  • Reopening Super Notch reuses its window instead of stacking another notch behind it.
  • Expansion uses one animation, avoiding competing window and drawer motion.
  • Claude usage can read an available CLI Keychain session without permission dialogs. Percentages below 1% stay accurate.
  • Grok no longer turns missing on-demand usage into a false 0% reading. Its meter appears when xAI supplies usable usage data.

Super Notch 0.3.4 — First Words

Faster dictation startup, complete recordings, and less hidden rendering work.

Capture the opening

The recording tap is ready before the microphone starts. Type reports Listening when audio arrives, and raw capture is the faster default. Your saved Voice Isolation choice is respected; it remains available in Settings.

How to use: hold Right Option to dictate, then release to insert. The microphone turns off between holds.

Keep the whole thought

  • Removed silent audio-buffer limits and preserved every returned Parakeet transcript segment.
  • Incomplete Apple Speech results no longer masquerade as finished transcripts.
  • Talk and Type share a lazy Parakeet worker that releases its model after five minutes idle.

Keep the character

The minimized notch keeps its floating bubbles, now animated with cached Core Animation layers. The visible HUD keeps cursor tracking and face motion. Hidden companion views pause their rendering.

Version 0.3.3 · September 11, 2026 · Permalink

Super Notch 0.3.3 — Hover

The floating HUD is a companion again, not a dashboard. Controls wait until you mean them.

The HUD used to wear a green status pip and a mute/portrait capsule all the time. Fine in a settings mock. Loud on a desktop. Hover is the release that puts the face first.

The HUD is just the agent, until you ask

Idle, you get the companion in the ring. Hover, and the mute and portrait pill fades in on top of the agent — not tucked under the mascot. Click still opens chat. Drag still moves the head.

How to use: leave the HUD parked over your work. Hover the circle when you want to mute voice or hide the face.

Added

  • Hover-only HUD controls, stacked in front of the companion.

Removed

  • The green status pip on the HUD circle.

Super Notch 0.3.2 — Drawer

Sessions became projects. The island became a drawer. The notch stopped fighting itself.

Cursor just taught everyone that chats are projects. Super Notch was still listing four Codex cards with the same auto title. Drawer is the release that groups by working directory, then lets the island ease down on hover without a second AppKit interpolator rubberbanding the motion.

One card per repo

Multiple Codex or Cursor sessions in the same folder collapse into a project card. Expand it to see the chats. PRJ is the default Sessions filter — STA and CLI still exist.

A drawer, not a spring fight

Hover expand is SwiftUI only. The NSPanel snaps to the expanded clip; the island eases down inside it. Click-away stays snappy.

Faster cards

Session previews no longer re-parse JSONL on every paint. Live status probes run off the main thread and cache transcript tails.

Added

  • Project grouping for Sessions (PRJ).

Improved

  • Island hover open is a single drawer ease.
  • Session list stays calm while agents are working.
