How does Type put words in the field I am using?

Type · Super Notch · supernotch.ai

Focus the field you want to fill. Hold Right Option. Speak.

Type writes those words into the field you focused. That might be a Cursor prompt, a Claude Code chat, a reply, or a document. When you let go, the text is sitting there. You read it. You send it yourself.

This is dictation beside the agent, not Super Notch replacing Cursor or Claude Code.

Tokens

Dictation is local speech-to-text on your Mac. Type does not call Grok or OpenAI. It does not spend model tokens.

The other shortcut

Right Command is Talk. You hold it to speak with the companion in the notch, and those answers use the brain you chose in Settings: Grok, OpenAI, or Apple Intelligence on a supported Mac.

Right Option stays inside the focused field. The microphone is the same one Talk uses.

Download latest: If this Mac is still on 0.3.4, Super Notch will not show up under Microphone. Download the latest build, put it in Applications, then grant that copy.

Permissions

Voice features need microphone and accessibility permissions. macOS asks for both. Type also needs an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 14 or newer.

Grant the copy in /Applications/SuperNotch.app. Extra copies in dist folders or Debug builds confuse those toggles.

Permissions stuck after an update

Quit every Super Notch that is not /Applications/SuperNotch.app. If Talk or Type still cannot hear you after an update, reset the grants and toggle them again:

tccutil reset Microphone com.austindixson.supernotch
tccutil reset Accessibility com.austindixson.supernotch

Confirm System Settings is looking at the Applications copy, not a leftover Debug or dist build.
