Super Notch vs NotchDeck
Both put your AI coding agent sessions in the MacBook notch. NotchDeck is free and open source, and covers Claude Code and Codex today, with approvals from the notch (per NotchDeck). Super Notch covers Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, and adds on-device Type dictation, Talk, and a floating HUD, for $20 once.
What Super Notch does
- Session cards for Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor (including Cursor cloud agents), grouped by project. Pick a card to return to the session in its original tool.
- Agent activity at a glance. Orbiting spheres show detected working sessions. A brief pop marks a session no longer detected as working, which is not proof its result is verified.
- Usage in the notch. Claude, Codex, Cursor, and Grok usage beside your Mac's CPU, memory, and disk.
- Type (Right Option) for on-device English dictation, and Talk (Right Command) for a notch voice companion.
- Floating HUD to ask about the window in front of you.
What NotchDeck does
NotchDeck says: "Your MacBook notch becomes mission control for every AI agent you run." It lists glanceable session states, click-to-jump to the exact terminal pane (precise in iTerm2, WezTerm, and Kitty), act-in-place decisions (approve a tool, answer a question, sign off a plan), and token and cost tracking. Claude Code and Codex today, with Gemini, Aider, and more on the way. No yabai, no cloud, no telemetry. Free and open source under the MIT License.
